David Brown, PhD

David Brown, PhD joined Pacific University in August 2012. Dr. Brown previously served as Director of Audiological Research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and was also on the faculty at University of Cincinnati in Ohio.

His areas of specialty include otoacoustic emissions, auditory brainstem response diagnostics, newborn hearing screening, and pediatric audiologic diagnostics, with a strong research interest in simulation technology.

Dr. Brown completed a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Western Washington University in 1981 and a Master of Arts in Audiology from Western Washington University in 1984, and then went on to earn his Doctor of Philosophy in Auditory Neuroscience from University of Calgary in 1996. Dr. Brown, being a consummate audiologist, has a deaf miniature Goldendoodle named Sammy. Sammy’s hearing loss was identified through auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing when he was a puppy and the family uses sign language to communicate with him.
