The Audiology Program at The Ohio State University:
The ACAE Board of Directors congratulates the Doctor of Audiology Program, Department of Speech and Hearing Science at The Ohio State University, on receiving ACAE Accreditation at its recent meeting in Orlando, FL.

Dr. Lisa Hunter, ACAE’s Chair, was the recipient of the 2014 President’s Award during the General Assembly at AudiologyNOW in Orlando.

See this excerpt from the formal citation:

“A graduate and former faculty member of the University of Minnesota, Dr. Hunter developed the Au.D. program at the University of Utah in 2001. With more than 25 years of clinical, research, and teaching experience, she has authored numerous publications and presentations in pediatric audiology and currently serves as the Scientific Director for Audiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, as well as Associate Professor at the University of Cincinnati. She has served our profession in so many different capacities, including co-chairing an NIH Research Symposium, collaborating on a longitudinal study of newborn hearing loss, funded by NIDCD, and past service as member of the Board of Directors of the Academy. But her real passion and enduring legacy is audiology education. As the current National Chair of ACAE, her task is not an easy one, but her absolute and unwavering commitment to the importance of ACAE’s mission and purpose is inspiring. This commitment is reflected in her tireless efforts on behalf of achieving independent accreditation for Audiology”
Bettie Borton,
President, American Academy of Audiology

Congratulations Dr. Hunter from the ACAE Board and your friends and colleagues!

Stakeholder Survey

ACAE initiated a Stakeholder Survey in Spring 2012 and recently sent it to all constituents of the audiology profession. The survey is a study of expectations about educational needs to support excellence in education and clinical practice. We anticipate the results will provide valuable input for the profession and in updating the ACAE standards. We hope you will commit to the future of our profession by recognizing your role in strengthening our educational programs. It is incumbent on us to thrive in this competitive healthcare environment. Like a good partnership, we need to stand together in support of audiology education.

The ACAE thanks the representatives of the ACAE, AAA, ADA, CAPCSD, SAA, and ADA Student Association who served as peer-reviewers for the survey. Their contributions were excellent.

The Stakeholder Survey is now closed. ACAE was extremely pleased that 1021 stakeholders consisting of faculty, clinicians, students, industry professionals) participated in the survey. This is an excellent response which will provide valuable information. The survey is currently being analyzed and presentations at the 2013 AudNOW and CAPCSD conferences will provide results.
